This guide is about the bell in the top bar.
Use it to review the alerts that matter to you personally while you are inside circleOS. The unread badge on the bell shows whether something in that personal feed still needs your attention.
What the bell is for
The in-app notification feed is separate from workspace Slack alerts and separate from patient emails or SMS messages.
In practice, the bell is the place to check for personal alerts such as:
- mentions
- updates that need your attention
- unread items that arrived while you were working somewhere else in the app
Open the bell to read the alert in a popover and jump back into the related workflow.
When to use it
The bell is useful when you want to:
- catch up after being away from your desk
- see whether somebody mentioned you in a note or comment workflow
- reopen the item that triggered the alert without searching for it again
- clear your personal unread queue without changing workspace-wide rules
What it is not
The bell does not control workspace notification rules.
If you need to choose Slack channels or manage workspace delivery for briefings, bookings, or purchases, go to Settings → Notifications instead. That page currently has separate tabs for Briefings, Bookings, and Purchases.
Patient-facing messages such as booking confirmations, reminders, forms links, and document-sharing emails also live outside the bell feed.
Not every system event appears in the bell. The feed only shows workflows that are configured to send personal in-app notifications to you.
A simple rule
- Use the bell for your own day-to-day alerts.
- Use Settings → Notifications for workspace Slack delivery.
- Use service settings or the action you are performing when you need to control what the patient receives.
